Spring Outdoor Trends

While the latest data from the National Retail Federation shows that consumers were more focused on buying necessities than discretionary items in January, industry experts say outdoor retailers aren't too worried. That's because stores are offering hot spring gear--at a range of prices--that can be used equally as well on a trail run in Nepal as in your favorite state park.

"It comes down to the fact that consumers will still feel the need to remain active, healthy and get outdoors," says Ted Manning, general merchandising manager for EMS. "They just might do it closer to home."
