What's Your Club DV8 Story?
The building that once was Club DV8, a popular OR party venue for in past years, burned down yesterday... Everyone's got a DV8 story, what's yours? Share your tale in the comments, anonymously if you'd like!
From the Salt Lake Tribune:
A fire Wednesday -- one Salt Lake City's largest in recent history -- has forced authorities to demolish the building that housed the defunct Club DV8.
City building service employees using a back hoe were scheduled to knock down the building at 115 S. West Temple on Thursday.
Shane, our server, briskly walks over and says, "The building behind us is on fire." Normally one would jump up to witness the catastropher, but we didn't: our vienner schnitzel was just too damn good to leave, and because Shane said it was his landlord's building. He didn't seem too upset so we figured why bother.
Afterward we joined the hordes of morons, I mean, onlookers standing around in the ankle-deep water-soon-to-be-ice skating rink.
Did I mention the vienner schnitzel was to die for? Special props to Petra from Hilleberg tents for picking up the tab!

During one of the wild Teva parties of yore, Bridwell's wife Peggy decides it's time to try stage-diving.... didn't aim for the densest part of the crowd or maybe timing wasn't good but she nearly kissed that beer-soaked floor hard.
Here's to the DV8, an icon of OR lore.

I remember Peggy--and I have to say a few others, who mistook their party compatriots for members of a team-building exercise. What I remember is seeing so many friends there. I was sad when they shut down--it was a great party place.
